There are certain trips that commuters want as an example. You can also bid to work weekends and that will give you more of what you're looking for.

You're not playing the system. You're simply using tools available to you to build a schedule that better suits your needs. For example, I see a 1 day coming up that starts in the morning, but I prefer to wake up later that day and do an afternoon turn. You can trade for that. Is there another industry where you can find that last minute flexibility? I work in another industry, and it sure as hell doesn't offer that. I'll let you think of one.

It takes time, but you will get better at bidding/trading. Obviously, your BES can make a big difference. It's not uncommon for me to drop down in the 30hr of credit range.

The point is to get trips during a certain time of the week that allows you to be able to trade them out. It’s not playing the system at all. It’s all in the contract. If you don’t know how to bid or trade, there are paid resources to help you in addition to ALPA.
