I've heard its relatively easy when commuting from western EU when working for a legacy. The dudes I've talked to that have done it have been able to commute on routes that serviced by the big WBs when the flight only requires 3 pilots. That almost always leaves an empty bunk. Some of the commuters will bring their own linens for the extra bunk. I'm on the NB fleet so all this is hearsay on long flights but it seems to be very feasible from western EU if this holds true and you work for a legacy that serves the city you're commuting from.

So I’m planning on going back and forth a lot from EU to US the next few months… how realistic is it to be able to use the empty bunk on 3 pilot crews? I should clarify I do work for a legacy that will operate these routes and I’ll be jumpseating to/from EU on my own metal.
Sorry for dumb question, but I thought they used all bunks… on a 3 pilot crew there’s always an empty bunk? And are crews usually cool with letting a jumpseater use it till landing?
thanks

How did you manage to go back and forth with your schedule? How would you organize it?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I flew back and forth as a crew member, not as a passenger.

Does that apply if you have dual EU/US citizenship, and thus the right to live and work in EU/EEA?
