oh so glad..................nah I really am, Its going to be exciting when all of these guys start hiring again, even more exciting when contract negotiations get underway.............. I saw on their website about the position, and to check back often, no minimums stated, anybody have any idea what their requirements were, when they were hiring?

That is no reason to trash an entire pilot group. Get over yourself and grow up.

Oh and anyone that goes by "jet driver" needs to also take a close look in the mirror. Pretty much everybody in this industry is a "jet driver". Good grief.

Do you still get x-rayed to see if you stole anything on your way OUT of work? Gotta love the trust at BROWN.
Fantastic post.

In other news, SAAB, you're better than that and I know it, keep it clean.

If UAL is unable to recruit talent from the real world, then they may adopt the European airlines' way of hiring (ala BA, Lufthansa, KLM, to name a few)... ie... going to flying acadamies, univeristies, and colleges and start from there... again another version of the pay to play program.

they do the same at fedex. With the current state of our wonderful society and some of the wonderful specimens it produces, do you balme them for checking us? I don't.

Is UAL that bad?????? They have bases all over, variety of equiptment and not too long ago, the airline to be at, from those that work there, how bad is it?

if people are commiting suicide over there, then I guess it is pretty bad. We had a UAL jump seater the other day who looked like he had lost his best friend. He had NOTHING good to say about UAL. With that being said, it is still 10 times better than a regional. Someone said that they forsee 10k apps the first month......I agree. For the ole timers, UAL may suck, but for the new generation, it is one step below the garden of eden.

No UAL is not that bad. Is it the UAL of the early 90's? Nope. Of course nowhere is as good as it used to be.

UAL is a bit better than others IMO. We still get fed unlike DL, No DH to Europe to fly back like the IRO's at CO only to be paid half DH, we still have one of the largest widebody fleets in the world and are flying 30+ 747's and 40+ 777's.

If you wanted to fly an RJ all your life then stay where you are. If not then apply and take your chances. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Tilton is the current UAL A-hole. Every airline has one and he is ours. It is no different than most places and I would have to say better than some.

Our MEC wound up out of synch with the pilot group. It has a big platter of eggontheface and is trying to stir the pot to regain some traction. UAALPA is/was under attack from another union that is trying to gain the services of the UAL pilots. There is alot of money at stake for the ALPAites and they are going to protect their turf. The best way to do that is drum up the troops into a hate fest at something other than ALPA.

The contract the MEC wants to change is the same contract we have been working under and voted FOR that expires in '09. It is the same contract that was unanimously endorsed by the MEC. They NOW want to force a change with no leverage. The MEC sent the pilot group a TA a few month ago that was overwhelmingly turned down. It was concessionary in many items and the pilots just said no. There is a tremendous amount of angst amongst the pilot group about the current ALPA leadership.
