Quote: ah. thank you. that explains a lot.

Yea, there are a lot of us spread throughout the industry, hired late, second career, etc. Not everyone was hired in their twenties and thirties.

And those who were can get cancer or go blind and never make it 10 years at a legacy. Life isn’t fair. Fair rules and norms that apply to all are the closest that we have. Age 65.

You sound like a spoiled, entitled young child...good luck Pineapple.

Aww... ran out of talking points and resorted to name calling.

His point is solid. You're not entitled to an extension because you got a late start. I need to reinterate again, we're not taking anything away. We are preserving the rules that have been in place for the last 16 years.

Getting butthurt over maintaining existing precedent is next-level entitlement.

Enjoy your retirement 🍻

agree 100%. dude wants a the law changed because of his personal circumstances. He doesn't believe it's for "safety" or "mentorship" or "the pilot shortage." He knew the rules when he got hired, but now wants to move the goalposts.
Quote: First off, you can't legislate in conference. Changes to bills have to be slight, if at all.
You just kinda make this stuff up, don't you DenialEskimo? The Conference Committee is tasked with reaching a compromise between the House and Senate versions of a bill. Members negotiate to address conflicting provisions, amendments, or language in order to craft a final version that can be approved by both chambers. In the greater context of a bill as massive as the Reauthorization, 67 is pretty damn slight.

Quote: There's a ton of logistical hurdles about age 67 that should have been worked out in committee. And they weren't because it wasn't changed.
Yet somehow the House T and I Committee managed to get it in the House bill. Go figure.

You got Age 67 proponents having daydreams of adding "restrictions" as a way of allowing 67 through conference. That ain't gonna fly. You can't ADD stuff to a bill in conference. Here's some reading for you. Better get your readers.

Quote:
"The rules state that the conference committee is permitted to establish a compromise and modify language within “the limits of the disagreement.” That means if there is no mention of a policy in either bill, adding new policy language is not permissible under the rules of the conference committee (since differences cannot exist between something that did not exist originally). Only “germane” modifications, which are related to the differences between the two bills, are allowed during conference. Items that are fair game to be considered during conference committee are often called “conferenceable.”

What's clear is that Rs have long abandoned good governance for family favors and lobbyist backdoor dealing. How else could such a disruptive rule change be allowed without proper analysis? Simply they don't give a *******.

You didn't even face the setbacks of the past several decades of this industry and you're asking to be made whole because you made life choices that took you on a different career path and now suddenly feel like becoming an airline pilot?

You sound like a spoiled, entitled old man. Good luck Stretch 🫡
