This will ruin recruitment at AA. Airlines with upgrades over 2 years will struggle to find decent applicants.

Let them come back as FO’s.

I remember when upgrades were 20 years.

…and a dude delivered your milk in quart sized glass bottles, and gas was &.50/gallon, and flight attendants were hot. The good ole days, amiright?!

Ha! I am ripe with old man smell! I still would like someone to explain in detail how this will help the shortage at the regional level.

Wasn't anywhere near that long ago. I remember milk delivery as a little kid, but gas was $1.25. Actually the milk was a specialty thing, Mom was into health food... most folks just bought it at the store.

Mathematically, on average if 60% of pilots are CA's and the average pilot gets hired at 30, upgrade should take 14 years. That would be an average over time if retirements were consistent and everybody took the first available (they don't but the majority do in normal times).

1-2 year major upgrades are an historical anomaly, enjoy it while you can.

the funny thing is anyone hired today will probably see the best career advancement at AA, but because DL and UA have lower upgrade times today you might have a point.

upgrade times for new hires at DL will rise significantly in the near future unless we plan some major growth.

I’m guessing since the company has no real plans to improve schedules on the domestic side this will be more of a historical norm than an anomaly. Nobody wants to fly those crappy schedules but if you’re gonna be junior might as well be junior in the left seat.
