Imagine being a captain for 20 plus years and now you’re doing the pre / post flights in the cold rain. Single engine taxi checks and flows. The right seat is a lot more physical and mental
work if you ask me. If you’re a big 3 pilot then senior WB FO but that’s exhausting imho. Idk about that. |

The article mentioned the Regional Airline Association was in favor of 67. How may 64 year old RJ pilots are there?
United CEO came out against raising the age. Said 40% of 64 year old pilots were out on medical. So if it goes to 67 at 65 claim vertigo, depression or “suicidal thoughts” and collect your sick leave, disability etc for a year or 2. Paid retirement. Won’t do squat to fix the “shortage”, but then again it is a “guvmint” solution. |
