Then we need to update the medical process first. Increasing the retirement age before we fix the medical is putting the cart before the horse. Without a real medical system in place, there is no point even discussing raising the retirement age.

What would you add and why

Not a bad idea. Maybe alpa could have lobbied, can’t be implemented at individual carriers until their last 911 furlough has been offered a recall.

The level of overall degradation and compromise I've seen in 63+ pilots is insane. Whether it's long time complacency, can't hear anything, missing radio calls, refusal to admit any fault or participate in CRM, it's all terrible.

Anyone voting for this is either in the above category and selfishly voting for their own monetary gain or totally clueless. This will significantly compromise aviation safety.

Anyone advocating for my stringent medical standards is SEVERELY MISGUIDED.

And that is coming from someone in their early 40's with no health issues. Do any of you have any clue what I nightmare it is to have a deferred medical?? Seriously, do any of you have any clue?

I’ve been in 121 ops for 20+ years and I’ve seen those actions from all age groups so to strictly pin Aviation safety on age verses adherence to SOP is unfounded. Of course there are generational practices that need to be sanded and refinished. CRM is still a fairly new concept and said 63+ yr olds may not incorporate the concept as readily as the younger groups. The insanity infestation that you are proclaiming to be happening would or should have numerous NTSB accident investigation reports to support your proclamation. From what I see, and have seen, is 121 operations have experienced the lowest accident/incident events these past few decades due to said CRM/SOP protocols. The Swiss cheese model works and that’s why there’s 2 pilots up front.

I am ok with keeping 65, however, I can not get full social security until 67, why doesn’t ALPA lobby for that? If I have to retire at 65 by federal mandate, I should get full benefits then.

I hate to break the bad news but depending on your age group by the time you’re eligible you’re only going to get a fraction of what you paid into it so social security shouldn’t even be a factor for determination.

I agree. They should absolutely then raise the retirement age to 70 and just not to 67. Another 5 year (65 to 70) jump has a nice symmetry to it when looking back at the last one.
