What airline do you work with and how much do you make?

Very true statement Slice....it is not our parents airline anymore.
The problem we all have....once you are in it is very hard to get out. Corp flight departments do not want to hire you because you are airline. General companies do not want to hire you because they think you will not stick around or get paid enough. When I was furloughed I could not get a job at Lowes unloading trucks or installing camper tops and running boards on pick-up trucks!
The pay is down and work rules are up and not in our favor. Getting that job at UPS, FedEx, or any other Major that is worth a damn is like winning the lottery.
Good luck!

Well,.... this is only partially correct. If you want to be comfortable
or even affluent then education is the key. However, the stats on millionares.... college graduates are in the minority. And in an even smaller minority among self made ultra rich. Most dropped out of college..... (or never went) i suspect it has something to do with creative and independent thought. Education is wonderful and necessary but usually has nothing to do with be coming very rich.
Oh ..... well thanks to Captain Obvious i now know that if i want to become a doctor i will have to go to med school.

I agree with slice.
1) Become an airline CEO
2) Make sure your airline goes bankrupt
3) Cut everyone's benefits (except your own of course!)
4) Terminate everyone's pensions
5) Emerge from bankruptcy
6) Award yourself a nice multi-million dollar bonus for the hard restructuring work you just did
7) Issue to yourself thousands of new shares of the newly restructured company
7) Sell all your shares right before you merge your airline with another airline
8) You're rich!

Of the top ten richest people in the United States, ALL of them were college EDUCATED. Every single one of them attendent college. Four of them dropped out half way through, but Bill Gates and Paul Allen were still very EDUCATED! Bill Gates attended Harvard and scored an amazing 1590 on his SAT's! Paul Allen attended Washington State University for two years and his dad was a director at the University of Washington.
My favorite fact comes from the list below. This is the list of all the billionaires in the United States who are 50 years old or younger with atleast 2.0 BILLION dollars:
1. Sergey Brin (34). Bachelors degree and Stanford Masters Degree.
2. Larry Page (33). Bachelors degree and Stanford Masters Degree.
3. Michael Dell (45). College dropout.
4. Steven Ballmer (50). Bachelors degree and Stanford MBA.
5. Abigail Johnson (45). Bachelors degree and Harvard MBA.
6. Pierre Omidyar (39). Bachelors degree.
7. Leonard Blavatnik (49). Bachelors degree.
8. Eric Schmidt (50). Bachelors degree and Berkeley PHD.
9. Edward Lampert (44). Bachelors degree.
10. Jeffrey Bezos (43). Bachelors degree.
11. Lee Bass (50). Bachelors degree and University of Pennsylvania MBA.
12. Steven Cohen (50). Bachelors degree.
13. Mitchell Rales (50). Bachelors degree.
14. David Filo (40). Bachelors degree.
15. Wesley Edens (45). Bachelors degree.
16. Mark Cuban (48). Bachelors degree.
17. Michael Novogratz (42). Bachelors degree.
18. Peter Briger Jr. (42). Bachelors degree and University of Pennsylvania MBA.
19. Henry-Nicholas-III (47). Bachelors degree and UCLA PHD.
20. Jerry Yang (38). Bachelors degree.
21. Jon-Stryker (48). Bachelors degree and Berkeley Masters.
22. Omid Kordestani (43). Bachelors degree and Stanford Masters.
23. Tom Gores (42). Bachelors degree.
Do you see a trend? Sure, many of the older billionaires were not college educated. They grew up in a different era. But it is now the year 2007. College education is the norm, not the exception. Of all the multi billionaires in the United States 50 or younger, all of them attended college and only one of them dropped out.
My point is if you want to be rich, the best thing to do is to become educated.

The book, Pull: Networking and Success Since Benjamin Franklin by Pamela Laird, addresses this subject well. Success in the business world tends to be defined by “social capital” vice education alone. Almost all of the success stories listed on this thread share a commonality; the person had above average backing from family/mentors. Networking effectively and parental selection seem to be a piece to the puzzle.

Now that's funny. He must be confused, thinking he was on the Pompous Professional Student Central website. If he's an engineer, he makes a fraction of what I do and works twice as much...go figure. I bet he sells Amway on the side as well. Where do these pudknockers come from anyway?

Most mere high school grads form more coherent sentances...you must have a doctorate!

Exactly...he saw he was wasting his time with a bunch of professional students standing around telling each other how smart they are and left them and their Ivy League circle jerk to go into the real world.
If you hadn't noticed, this is an airline pilot website. Based on your writing, perhaps you need some "lower education. Who let you out of your cubicle anyway?
