Default Credit Report At Interview

Anyone know what majors like DL and CAL are looking for in your credit report?

I've never been bankrupt or defaulted on a loan. I've never had anything reposessed. However, I have had a few late payments here and there over the years.

Thanks,

AL

Are you sure they even look into that? Hope I don’t offend any CAL and DAL guys/gals but wouldn’t you find it very ironic for two airlines (maybe more?) with chapter 11 bankruptcies behind them (I know it’s been a while for CAL) would even consider looking into a potential employee’s credit worthiness???

it's kind of like asking employees to take pay cut and then give yourself a raise.

this is the airline business...

I don't know about the other airlines, but if I remember correctly Southwest has you sign a release so thet can run your credit.

You guys are getting this all wrong. Any bankruptcies, defaults, etc in your past are looked at as a positive thing. Especially if you can somehow work in to the interview that you, say, reneged on a long-standing promise to your kids - maybe withheld their allowance after they worked hard all summer - that would be extremely positive. Better yet, if you borrowed money from your neighbor, blew it on a trip to Vegas, and then refused to pay him back, that would probably earn you a seat on the board. Then you could pull some strings and get all your friends hired as lowly pilots.

All of these replies are humorious, however the airlines are looking to avoid any trouble down the road.
Garnishments, piling up debt shows a trend that the management wants to avoid. Sort of a "Do as I say, not as I do" situation.

I agree. I'm going to catch a lot of flack over this one, but it's been my experience that a person's credit score is generally an indicator of how responsible a person is ... medical bankruptcies not withstanding.

I don't think airlines that have filed for bankruptcy care about your credit report.

Well, that would make sense however apparently they do care since they conduct a credit check on the applicants...
