Default ATC controllers encouraged to resign

24 hours after PSA 5342 went down, the Trump administration sent a government-wide email, including to every controller employed by the FAA, encouraging them to quit their government jobs and seek employment in the private sector. Verified by multiple news sources.

"“We encourage you to find a job in the private sector as soon as you would like to do so,” the email declared. “The way to greater American prosperity is encouraging people to move from lower productivity jobs in the public sector to higher productivity jobs in the private sector.”

Two friends of mine are controllers. This morning, both of them confirmed that they, as well as everyone in their facilities, received the email.

No matter your political stance...as pilots who depend on professional controllers every minute we're out on the line, how any of us could support such an action is utterly beyond my comprehension.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, they're addressing those workers who are remote that don't want to come back in the office. Seems like a stretch to say they're telling controllers, who go into work, to resign.

That is indeed what the fork in the road email was about.

Last time I looked air traffic controllers are still working in a physical office.

found this part the most interesting…

It went on to explain that if workers quit, they could take a second job or travel while still on taxpayers’ payroll for months before leaving for good, even though federal workers have been told before that they cannot take a second job while still on the government’s payroll.
and that is how you make sure it doesn’t mess with you unemployment numbers.

Why would his friends who are controllers also receive the emails?

Nope.. It's got nothing to do with remote work.

Based on the article name, it said they sent it to federal employees. My guess is they sent it to all Federal employees, including controllers who work for the FAA.

Federal employees, including FAA, received email encouraging them to resign a day after DC plane crash: report

You can see my confusion with this quote from the article you posted.

The White House is offering buyouts to federal workers who don’t want to return to the office pursuant to President Trump’s orders, The Post has confirmed.

You just stated above, “every controller employed by the FAA, encouraging them to quit their government jobs and seek employment in the private sector. Verified by multiple news sources.”

You’re saying every air traffic controller in the U.S. received an email to quit their jobs? That’s also what your header claims.

Yes it did. That’s exactly what they said it was targeted at during the White House press briefing.

The e-mail went out on the 28th, BTW.

You should really get your head examined.
