The tactical part. Which was never in any doubt.

What' questionable is how you translate that to a strategic win in the short term

I wonder how the markets will react to the very presidential POTUS message this morning. Will the markets see this message as a defiant statement of strength or an outburst of desperation (admission of weakness/lack of control)?

Was 'obliterating' this capability the objective of this war?

Nope. This was our last big favor to Europe before telling them, defend yourselves guys and gals. You are on your own now after 108 years of us bailing you out.

Iran possesses motive & means. Let’s say survival of Israel is in your hands. Is rev guard superpower an eventuality you’d be prepared to accept? At least the Tel Aviv tiger is crystal clear in purpose. They’ve reached a functional accord with Egypt & the house of Saud. That should count for something.

Also satire? It's impossible to recognize now. The Onion will be out of business when "Praise be to Allah" is posted on Easter.

Happy to hear about the WSO rescue. Saddened to see on-going consequences to our companies like reduced international flying, less widebody vacancies, and reductions in hiring. Obviously fuel ramifications as well.

[mod input]. Ok folks. Have deleted a bunch of off topic and flamebait/partisan posts.

Once again, APC is not the place to argue partisan

Count for something, maybe, but probably not much. Hitler reached a functional accord with Stalin in 1939 which didn't even last two years before Operation Barbarossa. Keep an eye on Polymarket to see when Israel is going to begin their invasion of Egypt and Saudi Arabia because those are part of the plan too.

How is this a favor to Europe?

Prior to the war, the SOH was open with oil flowing. Now, Iran is emboldened to exert control over the SOH with no feasible response other than boots on the ground.

Sanctions against Iranian oil have been relaxed and they now control 20% of global oil supply.

Provoking an energy crisis by initiating a strategically incoherent war of choice with ill-defined objectives sure doesn't seem like a "big favor" to anyone. Causing the closure of the SOH and then telling Europe to deal with it because reopening is too difficult is a "big favor" to you?

Israeli pop is 9.5m. By comparison, Cuba is 10, the Tar Heel state 11. After Iran, dealing with the West Bank and what’s left of Lebanon poses the more immediate concern if their recent moves foretell coming attractions. Hitler occupied Odessa. Plowing ahead to the Volga in winter ultimately cost them everything. IDF leadership isn’t crazy.
