Things aren’t over until they’re over. I truly hope Spirit survives in some form or another. That said, I am truly grateful to have found a lifeboat, and the fact that people senior to me were in my class made my justification feel that much better. It’s tough to start over, especially for those of us who were/are towards the top. I totally understand. I hope everything works out for everyone there.

Just to clear up baseless speculation, none of what you're all posting (5 planes parked in DFW, 17 planes in the air) have any correlation or relation to any potential liquidation. For Tues and Wed Spirit plans to fly around 200 flights/day, vs 400 on other days, a dramatic planned decrease. There were also additional tactical cancellations throughout the month due to fuel prices.
Spirit is also flying aircraft to Victorville today. Those are the 20 held for sale aircraft that was meant to be sold last year, finally transacting. Again, nothing to do with this news from 'sources'. Are these the same sources earlier in the year where the Air Current came out with the article about Spirit not making payroll that had everyone in a frenzy? Everyone was saying how Jon Ostower (or whatever his name is) was one of the most reliable sources in aviation news. Could be wrong, but I'll believe it when I see it. |

Again, nothing to do with this news from 'sources'. This sounds just like that week where the Air Current came out with the article about Spirit not making payroll that had everyone in a frenzy. Could be wrong, but I'll believe it when I see it. The truth of the matter is the airline hasn't turned a profit in 7 years. At some point something is gonna give, and that give is an unnecessary war in Iran that's driving Jet A prices to an unsustainable level for an airline going through bankruptcy for the second time in as many years. This airline has now been screwed by back to back administrations. |

Look, as someone that left 12 years of NK seniority behind, I want to believe that it will turn around for them. It was a great place to work. I'll never have an aviation job that good again.

In terms of recent meaningful developments, the DOJ filing on 4/10 objecting to bankruptcy exit is pretty significant.

…but needs to check IMDB…

Those ferry flights from FLL and DTW seem costly with today’s fuel prices. Couldn’t route those airplanes through LAS first?

Good luck to our spirit brothers and sisters. I hope this is all passes and you all pull through this!

Funny. My fo yesterday had never even heard of animal house. I was trying to explain how the end of we’re not going to take it was from the movie when he said never heard of that movie. I just said never mind then.
I think these movies need to be enshrined in the FAR's for issuance of a Student Pilot certificate. |

Man, what is it with kids these days... I've run into a CFI who hasn't even seen The Right Stuff, Airplane, or even the original Top Gun, and he had no idea about Iron Eagle. I thought the kid was pulling my leg.

From the WSJ today: "The lenders behind Spirit’s revolving credit line filed an objection to the reorganization plan last week, saying the proposal doesn’t account for the airline’s sharply higher costs." |

I'm old enough to remember when Vanilla Ice (Ice, Ice, Baby) and Sir Mix-a-lot (Baby Got Back) were considered mildly amusing flashes in the pan instead of the vanguard of an ongoing 30+ year movement to explore how many words rhyme with "itch".

Born in 1975 but woke up last birthday with an odd feeling. My FO confirmed it during a long leg when he asked me what movies he should see. The Lost Decade pilots are now the old guys in the left seat. Aahhhh F. “Are we awake?” ”We are. But we are very confused.” |
"That's what I hate about new hires, man. I get older, they stay the same age"

Old School, Wedding Crashers, Tommy Boy. The list in long and distinguished. Movies just don’t seem funny anymore. sorry for the drift. What’s happening at Spirit isn’t funny either. |

Our kids have been subjected to Family Classic Movie night for these reasons. Fast Times is screened the week before freshman year at HS.

Lots of good info in old movies. Like never go full flaps when you are in a race with Knotcher.

I think these movies need to be enshrined in the FAR's for issuance of a Student Pilot certificate. When advise he needs to check on his own vs ATC for things like Attenuation, I got the reply, “Attenuation, what’s that?” Never heard of the Southern Air accident as well. |

Off to find a Deeablo sammich and a Dr. Peppah. |
Q- "Have you seen the new PBS program?"
A- "Have you seen my Baseball?" Blank stare. Heaven forbid we have a little fun, even if the younger guys/gals don't get the movie references. F138- |

All of these movies are pretty deep in Gen X territory, which starts prior to Alien, Star Wars, Smokey and the Bandit, and a smattering of earlier films.
