So who are you? Alfred Hitchcock? Im mean seriously. If you decided that you dont like bein an airline pilot then fine its your own opinion. And if you get out and do anything else then hey I respect that it takes a lot of guts to change and abandon what youve been working on. But why is it that everytime you post it gives off this vibe that your right and everyone else is just wrong for wanting to be an airline pilot? Or you know what keep it up just would mean fewer pilots sittin in the lobby waiting to interview when I want to interview for the shinny jet job. Good lookin out sir.

What you are refering to is a ongoing conversation that I have with Speeder.

My mission is to speak for the less attractive side to aviation and the airlines. Flying Magazine, AOPA and many other establishments work diligently to sell the upside. It is a bit one sided. Thank you for your post.

It's not too surprising that a lot of people miss the point. I would not belittle a plumber, truck driver or any other hourly tradesman. I grew up with a hammer in my hand. And my carpenter father would kick my tail. The point is the level of education and experience that it took to get where I am. Add to that the amount of revenue that I generate for my company and the level of risk that I incur by strapping the airplane on. If you think that's arrogant, I really don't give a damn. Cargo pilots arrogant? We've spent years getting looked down on by our pax brethern and all of a sudden we're their best friends. But you know what? I don't blame them. And I'd help any pax friend out if he/she wanted an interview. And I can guarandamntee you that the only difference between me and that Gemini guy was luck. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and got my job. I wish that they could figure out a way to make my job their job. But I refuse to apologize for being stupid enough to get hired at FedEx.

It's going to be UPS, Continental, Southwest, FedEx and maybe one or two other airlines that prop up the industry for pilots while the pax carriers recover. If you think we're arrogant because we think we deserve more of what we make for our companies I really couldn't care less.

Oh Mike,

You are such the gentleman. I wasn't baiting her. I was merely interested in the motivation of her interests since they are like mine. I am impressed at your dash to protect her. Very chivalrous !!

Your reasons for higher pay still are not valid. What about the personal risk that a soldier or police officer is exposed to? Statistically you are much safer in the MD-11 than the drive to work. In addition as I mentioned before your education and experience are not that difficult to acquire anymore. Revenue had nothing to do with pay scales. Perhaps Boeing should stand up and claim the highest contributor since they build the plane or perhaps the guys who handle the packages should stand up and demand a piece of the pie. And lastly even a ferryboat captain or school bus driver has huge responsibilities, but they are not waiting for the 200K paycheck.

These lame excuses have been handed down for decades and they don't hold water. Sooner or later the equalizer of capitalism will come to cargo. Perhaps a foreign competitor will arrive with cheaper planes and crews and undercut UPS's and FedEx's bloated union bottom line. Whatever it is this imbalance will not last long.
