Odd

I say this because I remember a news article about a younger person attempting to sue Mc Donalds in CA over the fact that the younger person was being "overcharged" due to age discrimination. They based this claim on the fact that they couldn't obtain the Senior Citizen discount on their purchases.

The case ended with the Judge throwing the case out because The State of California doesn't have any age discrimination laws!

I always thought that couldn't be right. Of all the states how could CA not have any? Unless it's been Hollyweird protecting their rights to fire old actors.

It made me want to set up some publicity stunts using age discrimination to get media attention and awareness that somehow CA skipped out on getting these laws in place.

But who knows maybe the reporter got their facts wrong.

I believe there are no laws protecting against age discrimination for young people, but there are laws protecting older people. I "investigated" this when I was flying a Ce-500 (single pilot PIC) at age 24 but was unable to use the crew car which required the driver to be 25. I talked to a friend who is a Law Professor and a former judge and Federal laws don't protect a person who is over 18 but under 40. How can car insurance and rental companies have higher rates for people under 25? Simple they're not protected. Statisticially they can look at accident rates for young people but not older people, races of people, etc..

Funny, you should say that about having to be 25 to rent a car. Back a few years when I was building time and doing cross countries I took my girlfriend to BHB Bar Harbor ME for the day and I wanted to rent a car. I had credit card and everything but insurance required me to be twenty five to rent a car. I just thought it was so crazy because when I was student pilot I could rent a little warrior fly my solo X/C's all over the place and I was just 16yrs old at the time. It seems ridiculous that you can rent a plane by yourself at 16 but, you need to be twentyfive to rent a car. Even more nuts you could if you get hired young enough you could potentially be captain at 23 or 24yrs old and still not be old enough to rent a car. So in the end the FBO just gave us a courtsey car which really doesn't seem much different than a rent a car but oh well. Just my .02 cents

Wink Wow!!!

Wow thats funny i worked at Harbour Air and FBO in KTVC. Bruce and Demi would come there all the time. The pilots of 400M were always nice and would let me sit in the cockpit. Ha.
