So a guy gets bored and looks up legacy pay rates. Southwest guys feel it necessary to jump in and tout their superior pay.

Question for the Southwest pilots: If the legacy carriers surpass your current rates with their upcoming section six negotiations, what will you do when it's your turn? Will you do whatever it takes to raise the bar hire for the good of the profession?

I'm glad that flying larger airplanes for less money is your thing. Everyone has an opinion and I'm glad things are working out for your career desires. My only contention is your misrepresentation of FACT. I've flown 5 legs three times this year or roughly one day every three months. My average is 2.78 legs per day. As Joe Friday used to say "Just the facts ma'm, just the facts."

We are in section six also right now. I wish we could point to a legacy carrier to justify higher pay. I hope all of you guys get better contracts so in the contract after this one, we will have some more leverage. As far as your last sentence, I believe we have raised the bar. SWA pay scales have gone up 52% in the last ten years... how about UAL. I think you need to ask yourself.. Will you do whatever it takes to raise the bar hire for the good of the profession? I hope you guys do well, I'm rooting for you.

Go for the 250 an hour on the 757 at UPS. This is what it will be in Jan. With the hourly adjusted for the 900 hour guarantee a year. (75 x 12)

Didn't SWAPA sign their current contract after UAL ALPA got contract 2000? Talk about raising the bar. In fact your rates are still not as high as UAL's contract 2000 rates, even for the 737. Fact is, UAL did set the bar. SWA almost got there, and then UAL dropped like a stone due to the bankruptcy. IOW, you guys were playing catch-up for the last 30 years, until everyone else took cuts and suddenly.....you raised the bar? OK. Enjoy being on top. Believe me, I know how it feels. I also know it may not last.

Good Day.

Did ya ever think you might have raised the bar too high for you to get over?

I mean this is an analogy about high-jumping, right? Seems to me that you guys raised the bar and then couldn't make the height.

Does that mean that you believe that "overpaid" pilots were responsible for the demise of the airlines? If, so then let the debate begin, because I will tell you that we were not.

I enjoy the compensation I receive for what I do and it has nothing to do with being on top. So therefore I don't really care 'it' lasts. I do hope that you guys get a better contract, in fact an industry leading one. Best wishes.

If you guys are so great at SWA, and love your 6 leg days, why not get a retirement plan?

The company makes $, but all they offer is some 401K match and some Stock that has been stuck at 14 dollars for 4 years? I have many, many friends at SWA, and I must say it must be a Cult at Indoc. Because 80% are brain washed. SWA,SWA,SWA........It's the greatest, etc. Working their butts off. While I have 30 days off at a time four times a year. Incredible.

Get at least a B-plan. Get some balls. 401K aint gonna hack it.
