Hey man! They are going to show up at your door at midnight wearing black hooded robes and carrying candles, chanting a Gregorian Chant!!! You better be careful. :)

SWA can tout their hourly rate all they want. Personally, I already flew for the regionals and have no need to do it again. I have buds there, I know what the schedules are like and I don't think that I could physically sustain the 'regional' type flying for the rest of my life.

Different strokes for different folks.

SWA,

In an earlier post you said, "I wish we could point to a legacy carrier to justify higher pay." I understand that statement to mean that you do not think you should be asking for higher pay.

nK, just to clarify a misunderstanding, I DO think that we should ask for higher pay. Looking at your peer group that is making more is only one of many tools in the negotiation tool box. Wasn't it United that asked for Delta+ 1% or vice-versa? We have plenty of other justifications, just not the 'other guys are making more' one this time. I truly hope we can all negotiate better contracts.

Nothing personal against SWA - some of my best buds are SWA pilots...but wasn't it SWA that hired a guy a couple of years ago that got canned on IOE for unprofessional behavior? Face it, EVERYONE hires an occasional dweeb - there are enough dweebs high enough up in all the companys to ensure it. Fortunately the majority are great guys.

It's so hard to ask for more money when Skybus, Slut (virgin), and others come along with subsidized Airbus' and questionable leases that give them an unfair advantage undercutting the Legacies and SWA.

Delta got United plus one. Honestly, I'm surprised you don't know the story of United's summer of 2000.

Southwest's contract became amendable over a year ago. What is the current status of negotiations? Has your union leadership come forward with a proprosal? Has a strike preparation committee been formed? I'm curious as to why your pilot group isn't banging the drum to get the talks jumpstarted, or are you satisfied with what your current contract?

Sorry, but my life doesn't revolve around United. I actually have a life and need to go participate in it now. Hope the rest of your discussion goes well. Just a suggestion, but you may want to expend more energy fixing your company before you worry about fixing mine. Once again, I hope you improve your contract and get what you want. Best wishes.

I'm not in the business of fixing companies, just interested in increasing pay and quality of life for this profession.

It's a real shame don't have the time in your busy life to answer a few simple questions, but do have the time to make derogatory comments.

Good luck to you, and don't worry, we'll do the heavy lifting.

What heavy lifting? SWA is leading the way in narrow body pay. You should thank SWA for setting the narrow body pay bar so high. It gives you guys something to shoot for.
