Default Is CAL still hiring?

Is CAL still hiring with a potential merger on the horizon? I heard a rumor, and I hope someone at CAL can dismiss it, that CAL is not hiring until the mergers sort themselves out. I heard this from a CAL pilot who just finished 777 FO training. I am not trying to start a "sky is falling" thread, but would appreciate it if anyone in the know would clear this up.

Thank you.

I received this from a union rep that visits the new hire classes as they come in. As of last night.

"Talked to Manpower planning this afternoon at the new hire class (12) today.

12 next week, 12 on 3/11, 12 on 3/18, 8 on 4/8, 8 on 4/22, 8 on 5/6, 8 on 5/13, and 8 on 5/27.

These numbers are valid through tonight"

I don't know what a merger will do to hiring. It will probably be a negative effect. -100 next week, -200 on 3/11 and on and on.

Another question on the same lines. Is CAL still actively interviewing? Is there currently pooled pilots waiting for a class date? If so, how many are in the pool and how long is the average wait for someone who immediately available?

I had a buddy hired in early Jan for a class that started last week. So I'm guessing there is a small pool, but I believe we are still interviewing.

No changes. Actively interviewing, actively hiring. Also, already a few of the over 60 captains (I've personally talked to two) that said they were staying have now indicated they will be retiring this spring. It seems the novelty of working past 60 is already starting to wear off.

What's realistic competitive minimums with or without an inside reference?

A sign off in a cessna 152 with a family member in the chief pilots office.

I don't know but I had 1000 pic turbine, 900 pic, 2700 total. military backgorund with a little civilian flight instructing prior to getting in the reserves.
