Default CAL hiring to slow

I've been told by a good source that CAL's hiring boom is going to slow quite a bit in March/April due to higher fuel prices. Better get those resumes in now if that's where you're wanting to end up. They are projecting the hiring boom will continue early next year. All predictions though so anything's up for grabs.

I'm sure that Age 65 had nothing to do with it.

It wasn't mentioned as a reason no.

12 per week until spring is the word from the top. Until Continental becomes Continited....then it ends.

still 16 a week. they hiccuped the hiring right when 65 went through to "reevaluate". Doesn't matter really you still need to know the right person to get in. There are 2 short lists besides the regular pool of applications and if you know someone and get walked into a chief pilots office your one the first of the 2. How you get on the shortest list is anybodies guess.

I was just told this by a student of mine from a while back who is in the management part of the CAL training department. He's not the type to fib. Hopefully things keep booming over there. We'll just have to see what happens. I'm still hoping to get my slice of the life.

Age 65 will have nothing to do with it until the majors start crying about their healthcare costs and all those captains maxed-out on pay that are doing minimal flying.

Agreed. Age 65 is just a reason to complain at the moment. Most people age 60 didn't plan on flying that long. I JSed to CLE the other day mainline and talked to them about it. They said they didn't know of anyone staying past 60 as of yet. I'm thinking anyone that wants to would be looked down on a little by the pilot group judging by their opinions.

I love it, the airlines blame everything on "fuel" prices, raise the stupid prise of the ticket.........
