Hey EWRBASEDPILOT, Where are you? You had plenty to say when a WN plane slid off a taxiway in GEG. No comments now? Are you showing favoritism to your new merger partners or have you finally figured out that sometimes bad things just happen.

Let's hope nobody mergers for a little while. In the end the pilots usually end up holding the bag in those types of deals.

Years ago I use to fly corporate into JAC, and it seemed Delta used to run off every winter at least once. Their snow removal was pretty weak and the ILS only went one way, so perhaps they were dealing with a tailwind to boot.

Every major and just about every regional with jets has over run at some point. No need to jab at each other. Just stay safe.

Mornin' Captain...Let's not encourage others to speculate about something that we know little about at this time. There's often plenty of that from others who probably don't know what they're talking about or know any better to begin with. There is next to nothing in the press on it, and that's a blessing in a way, so perhaps UAL has somehow put the press off on this one somehow.

I'm not trying to take you to task, just reminding you, me and anyone else who has ever felt the fustration of accident speculators that it's a two way street.

It'll all be in the report, as they say...JP

Seems like U has constantly been in the news (negatively) lately. Hope you guys can turn it around.

NTSB INVESTIGATES JETLINER RUNWAY EXCURSION IN JACKSON HOLE
************************************************** **********
The National Transportation Safety Board sent two investigators to Jackson Hole , Wyoming , to investigate an incident in which a United Airlines jet veered off the side of a runway. On February 25, 2008, at 9:16 p.m. MST, an Airbus A-320, registration N442UA, operated by United Airlines as flight 267, departed the right side of runway 19 during landing at Jackson Hole Airport. The captain, first officer, four flight attendants and 119 passengers evacuated the aircraft via the emergency slides. During the evacuation, one of the inflatable slides did not deploy. No serious injuries have been reported.
The airplane departed Denver at 7:44 pm MST with the intended destination of Jackson Hole . Visual meteorological conditions prevailed during the nighttime landing. The reported weather at the airport about the time of the incident was wind calm, visibility of 10 miles, and overcast clouds at 3200 feet above the ground.
The airplane came to rest on its landing gear at about a 90 degree angle to the runway in snow about three feet deep. An initial examination of the aircraft revealed no readily visible signs of structural damage or evidence of fire.
The captain and first officer have both been interviewed by Safety Board investigators. The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) were removed from the aircraft and sent to the NTSB headquarters in Washington where they will be read out.

The UAL bubbas have been flying max hours hard time (thanks to an onerous PBS and no trip trades) and very crappy schedules every month since exiting Bankruptcy. Couple this with getting dumped on and harassed by management, I'm actually surprised they don't have more accidents.

Kudos to all of them for enduring the lowest period of UAL's 75+ year history. Try finding a UAL guy who's morale is above the waterline, it's not easy.
