Thanks. Just trying to call it like I see it.

I would not use the word bleak, just uncertain, or undetermined.
Tough time for this industry. I also think that some of the predictions made 30 years ago may start playing themselves out.
Hopefully we are past the darkest part in the history of aviation.

Don't surrender just yet. The creditors are indeed in the driver's seat, but they don't have a lot of maneuvering room. Unwise moves on their part could cost them even more than they have already lost. There's an old saying: "If I owe you ten thousand dollars, you've got me; but if I owe you ten million dollars, I've got you!"

Found this paragraph interesting. Also including link to complete article.

Delta, expanding its big European network, says it wants to negotiate a merger with Northwest, which has a big Asian network. If Air France-KLM were to buy a merged Delta-Northwest under the next open-skies phase, that consolidation alone would be impressive.

Very wrong. If the company were to ignore that provision of the contract they would be shut down in court in a heartbeat. They can't ignore contractual provisions. There are no outs in that clause. Its black and what with no interpretation.

Are you new to the airline industry? How would you shut them down? The RLA will prevent any union from shutting down an airline. As a union we can file for an expedited hearing, and that should be brought to a hearing/arbitration within...hmmm maybe 6 months

I did not say shut the airline down. I meant the courts would shut the airline down on its attempt to violate the contract. I have been in the industry a long time. This is a clause the company can't ignore and they won't even attempt to ignore it. Its from one story from one reporter that spread all over. Its a non event and its not going to happen. Either we will merge as one airline or we will stay entirely apart. If its considered a major contract violatition you can bypass hearings and arbitration and go to court for a injunction. That won't happen because the company won't even try. They know they would lose.

True, and it would cost them all the money they would make in synergies.

Ask an ATA pilot how well that worked out for them.

Let them keep separate tickets, but ONE PILOT LIST! This is to include all commuters.

DAL should have never scoped them out in '96.
