If he leaves it in his locker outside the secured area, who cares?

I don't know what the gun laws are in DEN, but usually bringing a gun to an airport is forbidden in most civilized countries. It doesn't matter if it's the secure area or it, it's a gun in a public place. I'm sure he didn't have a license for the gun either.

Should be fired and jailed. Since he tried to get it thru the X-ray machine I don't think he meant to leave it outside security.. Dah!

That's a gigantic leap of logic (prejudice?) based on the information in the article.

Assuming it was a registered weapon, can't see any reason he would be fired for "forgetting" he had a weapon in his bag.....anymore than the FedEx pilot who did the same a few years back should have been fired.

Some counseling and time off seems more appropriate to me.

Story sure doesn't make it seem like he was trying to hide the gun to sneak it through.

Actually, in most jurisdictions in the US, it is totally acceptable to have a firearm on your person outside the secured area of an airport. Some locals are different, and I would advise checking into before carrying a weapon to the airport, but for the most part, you can carry one outside of security.

That being said, this guy is a g'vt employee.. you think they get fired??? Please.
