Delta New Hire Schedule Question...
I'm in the May 5th class at Delta. I was wondering... at what point do you find out what the rest of your training schedule is? Do you find out during the 10 day "orientation" or do you go home and wait for them to call? We're moving and I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect over the next couple months! Thanks!

You should know your full schedule well before you leave ATL. Basically, after you bid your aircraft they start working on the schedule. I can't remember exactly when we got ours, but I think it was before the first weekend. Good luck, welcome aboard, and enjoy training. FYI, my schedule was pretty busy with 1.5 weeks off after class then about 5 days on, 2 off for the next 4 or so weeks of sim.

don't count on any specific time off until you get your schedule. Couple people in my class got ZERO days off after indoc. Most had a few days to a week (I had 4 days). Some had several weeks. Once in training, you'll generally get a day or two off every week, but the sims run 24/7 so you probably will have your off days mid week.

Above posts are all accurate. You'll choose your a/c assignment by mid pm on Mon., your personal full training schedule (up to your 44X checkride) should be given to you by Wed/Thur at the latest. You'll receive your first set of Jepps, along with company manuals on Wed. as well.
If your class is evenly split between the 7ER and md88 (which is very likely), and if your last 4 SSN is high, expect less time off than your colleagues sitting at the back of the classroom. Training starts by relative seniority, i.e. the most senior guys within the fleet start first, and then the junior group starts about a week behind.

They'll work with you if you need specific days off, but it better be for a good reason. In my class, one of the guys was able to swap with a more junior guy (who had a later training schedule) so he could get married. "Hey, Buffett's coming to town and I need that weekend off!" is probably not going to cut it.
I don't know how they'll consider that you're in the process of moving. Just ask on day 1 or 2 when you get there. Hopefully they can accommodate you.

Your best option to find time to relocate would be talk to your OE planner sometime during your sim training (in your 300 series), so that they'll know what your plans are. They usually can accomodate most requests. If that doesn't work for you, talk to your fleet captain, and he'll straighten out for you.
