Default Flying for free- keep it civil please !

If the pilots at Aloha want to fly for free than who are we to judge them for doing so ?
Its amazing that ppl would chastise them for doing what they want and if they want to fly for free than so be it ,at least it gives them something to do instead of waiting for the phone to ring and also lets them accrue more flight time in the process.
For those that were slamming them how about helping them get work ,better to be proactive then being judgemental in a situation that no one other than them is privvy too.
I,ve been in the situation that they are in twice and its not an easy position to be in so until you have walked in someone else,s shoes that has ,then maybe its best to not be so judgemental about what they are doing.
To those at Aloha all the best to ya and hopefully this will get straightened out

P.S out of respect to D.B. please keep this civil you guys .

It's sad to see people taken advantage of like that. Completely misplaced loyalty. We as pilots are cost units--a liability to the company, not an asset. Although I guess if the company can get free flying for zero pay/benefits...the pilots become an asset. Or a slave.

The company would never do anything remotely resembling what these pilots are doing by flying for no pay.

It's very depressing to see pilots this clueless or deluded. Please have some dignity and stop working for free. Talk about lowering the bar.

Here in lies the point -- no one is forcing them to do this !
They are making a choice plain and simple .
Maybe you can get them work where you are Spliff?

If I could, I really would.

But that's beside the point. Why would they do this for a company that at the end of the day, doesn't give a rat's butt about them? That's very, very puzzling.

I'm sure the Aloha executives are not working for free. Why would the pilots?

Are you suggesting that the CBA no longer applies?

No I,m not suggesting that at all and the main gist of this was to counter the negativity on the previous closed thread.
