Default Captain on a PC-12

Question to all I was recently offered a job to fly a Pilatus. If my eventual goal is wind up with the majors, is it worth taking this job or will the PIC time be worthless and my time wasted? Thanks to all for your input

if it's the AF special ops job, don't do it. You will be away from home for 250+ days a year....and there are plenty of better options.

If you need it for a solid civilian job to put food on the table, take it...like Bored said...why not?

Single-engine turbine PIC is not likely to get you a major airline job unless it's in an F-16/AV-8B, or you previously have some significant regional PIC.

PC-12 is a great airplane. You'll be flying up in the flight levels. It truly depends on the airline you apply at, but as long as you have a decent amount of multi-time you're likely just fine. I wouldn't list it as single-turbine time on your resume, just Turbine Time. Keep us posted, you'll have a lot of fun if you take it.

Turbine PIC is turbine PIC. Simple as that. As long as an employer doesn't specify that the turbine PIC has to be multi, then you have nothing to worry about.

Dude you are so clueless!

The ONLY reason that most don't specify ME TPIC is because that would disqualify a few marine fighter pilots and a very large percentage of USAF fighter pilots.

While a single-engine civilian might technically meet the minimums at certain major airlines, that does NOT mean they will be competetive. I looked into this years ago when I had such an opportunity.

FWIW, I suspect that PC-12/TBM700 time would be SLIGHTLY better than caravan time if it came down to it...due to higher speeds and pressurization.

If you're thinking that this will be a stepping stone to the majors, please do some research first.

Since it is still in development, VERY few people have flown it and they are all over-qualified for airlines anyway. But I'm sure JSF pilots will be able to get airline jobs too when the time comes
