Can't imagine this helps either.
Emergency AD Issued on Eclipse 500 Aircraft
On June 12, 2008, the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) issued an emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) on all Eclipse 500 aircraft in response to an urgent recommendation from the National Transportation
Safety Board (NTSB). The recommendation stemmed from a June 5, 2008, incident where an Eclipse 500 airplane, on approach to Chicago Midway Airport, experienced a failure that resulted in uncontrollable maximum power thrust from its two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW610F turbofan engines. After referencing the emergency procedures in the airplane’s quick reference
handbook, the pilots shut down one of the engines. However, following the shutdown of the engine, the other engine rolled back to idle power and continued to be unresponsive to the throttle. The pilots declared an emergency, were cleared to land on any runway, and were able to land the plane without injury to the pilots or passengers.
The AD requires new emergency and normal procedures
to be inserted into the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) and for a pilot evaluation of the throttles with repair or replacement as necessary. The AD is effective immediately. For more information: Emergency AD: Eclipse Aviation Corporation Model EA500

Saw one take off from PFN a couple days back...
My Navion takes $250 bucks worth of avgas to go roundtrip to MCO from my place...I imagine an eclipse would burn twice that at least. That's a lot of coin to collect from 1, 2, or 3 seats...plus pay the pilot, the insurance, etc etc. Not saying it cannot be done....but how many $1000 gotta get there NOW types are there that don't already own a fractional share?

I looked at the Eclipse 500 pretty hard as a trainer, and when we looked at it, with Jet-A at about $3/gal that translated to roughly $330/hour to operate at M.65 in cruise, including maint and insurance, which translated to roughly 1/3 the cost of a T-6 Texan, and even less than that of a T-1 and way less than a SabreJet.
But if they don't figure out all the "magic" and ground the thing, it will not be such a good value.

Good article about them in this month's "Airliners" magazine. I think they hitched their wagon to the wrong fleet type personally. The Citation Mustang would've been smarter. The eclipse -- nice avionics or not -- just does not have the appearance of a comfortable or substantial looking airplane.
Cessna built a better airplane...at least as far as magic is concerned.

An A-36 is a more substantial airplane in the form of ramp appeal. This price is no longer 1.6m, BTW. Effecitive in June, the price went up 550K! That is very close to the price point of the CE-510, which is a much nicer airplane in terms of passenger comfort.

I still think the E500 is a pretty good value for what you get for about 1.6 Mil/copy.

personally I would spend the extra money for a used PC-12 or TBM

Talked to an Eclipse guy last week about his airplane...Sounds like the avionics aren't as ******* hot as people think. Most of the FMS functions are placarded inoperative (especially on the autoflight panel) and on this particular airplane they're going to yard most of the FMS stuff out and replace it with Garmin navigation systems, defeating the point.

The 2.1 version is the one with all the Garmin goodies. Check out the lastest issue of AOPA mag for the details.
I find it laughable that anyone is still thinking the Eclipse is a good value. The price is now around $2.1 million, roughly $600k less than a Mustang. And for your $2.1 mil you get a plane that doesn't have a working FMS, Icing certification, or FADEC units that work. You couldn't pay me enough to fly in an Eclipse.

This business model has never made sense to me. Maybe someone here can explain how this was ever a good idea.
