SWA Interviews
#31
A choice line is Tue. Wed. and Thur., ams or pms(your choice) usually 12-14 days a month. Reserve is usually all three days with a four day thrown in the mix somewhere. If you are not being used, you can typically give away the last day of your reserve to someone who lives at home. Depending on where you live and what base you go to, you might eat up one, two, or no days for travel. There's alot more involved with the scheduling process, i.e. they usually call you the day before with a trip(but that's no guarantee) and I hesitate to get into that here. Suffice it to say, if you don't have a reserve gig and can drop a trip, you're proabably looking at 13-14 days a month. Hope that helps, sorry if I was a little longwinded.

I have a class date in DEN with FTI next month... Who told you that they don't have sims anymore?
I disagree because I'm seeing guys who made contacts at HP getting called for interviews; its called networking. It certainly isn't the only way to get an invite, but it can't do anything but help. I got the call and hired without the type and used FTI, but I believe if someone wanted to spend the extra money at HP it would be well worth it. Just remember that its not in the bag just because you have the type and get called for an interview; be HUMBLE and do some interview prep!
So True, especially for Military guys. I did formal interview prep and it helped a ton. That being said, you need to be prepared on how you're going to answer the question if asked ("Did you do formal interview prep?") Some Interview Consultants will tell you to deny it or just say that you prepared with your buddies, wife, etc... You need to be careful with that answer because IMHO they don't ask that question unless they suspect it of you anyway. I answered honestly and explained why I did it. I'd only had one previous job interview and wanted to come across as professional as possible. They asked what that interview was and I told them -- Taco Bell at Age 16. We all had a good laugh and pressed on. It was the God's honest truth!
To echo what MilPilot said, SWA simply wants a humble, professional pilot. Be honest, smile, and be yourself. In the end, you're at the interview because you're qualified. You get hired because they decide they can hang in a tin can with you for 10 hours a day on a 4 day trip... Just my 2 cents... Cheers..

I agree with most of your post. Military guys be careful with this. Just ask yourself a few honest questions. Do you speak well in front of others? Can you tell a story that has a positive outcome. I got the questions gouge and I just had my mother-in-law and wife as my audience. They were good at picking up non-verbal mistakes I was missing. Bottom line I didn't use any formal interview prep. I'm not saying you shouldn't use the prep but remember many ex-military do and you don't want to sound EXACTLY like the other 15 guys in your interview group.

Vicki at FTI told me they don't have the sims anymore. Something to do with a policy change at UAL. I don't know exactly when they lose them, but my sims in ATL are scheduled starting 22 July. It all worked out better for me anyway as ATL is driving distance and I would've had to fly to DEN.

Do interview prep, especially military guys. God knows we need pilots. I'm on day 5 of a four day trip, PM turned AM, trip has payed >$4700 as an FO. We are undermanned.
Get your crap together and get an interview - I think the tsunami wave has started.
