SWA Interviews
#21
No doubt that the job is worth the cost of getting the type. In my shoes it is just hard to justify the cost in hopes of an interview. Unfortunately my last furlough, a new baby, and a wife wanting to be a stay at home mom puts a strain on the budget. I would have the type within 2 weeks of a job offer though. Would have to rob my 401K to do it though.

Yeah that happend to me. I was called the next day for an interview after I updated my resume online. If you have the GIBill I know that Higher Power has all the paperwork you need. I think it paid for almost 50%.

To be honest I don't think this really means that much. Just because they go to the HP course doesn't mean as a graduate you are getting an interview or hired. It is just nice to ask them some questions about the company. I think in my class of 20+ there are 5 of us working at SWA.

I did my type with FTI in Denver in Oct 07; top notch outfit at the time. Cost me 4995 for the type and FTI worked out a great rate with the Radisson which is where the FTI office is located. The sim is directly accross the street in the United facility and there is plently of good food in the immediate area so you don't need a rental car. The instructors and the check pilot were outstanding and very knowledgable; I believe they were United pilots who worked on the side for FTI. Bottom line-Great experience!

HuronIP,
This has been a tough decision. My present schedule revolves around a 28 day month. 5/2,5/2,5/2 and 4/3 is the way it's layed out. 19 days is alot but I am home usually every night. My wife and I want to make an informed decision about this and knowing a little about the schedule helps the process. I may be missing something in reading different posts, when you bid a line at some junior base during your IOE and first year or so, say you happen to bid reserve at that base.....is the reserve line 4 x 4day periods per month? I gather that commuting will potentially eat up your days off.
Also, I know this is putting the cart before the horse, but what is an example of a choice line for an F/O with seniority?
