Could there be the weird case where a junior Delta pilot bids the 777 just to be protected from a 767ER to DC9 displacement?

Ok so I am sure this question has been asked but rather than read all 8 pages of this I figured I would be lazy and ask again. If only the NWA guys can be furloughed as a result of dc-9 retirements until the fence comes down, then what happens when the fence comes down. Do the furloughed NWA guys get recalled and junior DAL guys take their place on the street?
Sorry if I am completely ignorant. |
I can tell you what DAL's goal is and where they stand with the FAA. They have a very good chance of attaining the AS and SOC goal on their time frame......

Superdad,
I believe, in the event of a furlough before SOC, the furloughs come from the side losing the acft. If it's an MD-88, comes from pre-merger Delta and DC-9 from pre-merger NW. If both are furloughed prior to SOC and then recalled after SOC, I believe the recall order is in seniority order. Denny |

He's wondering what would happen if 500 pilots (from one side) got furloughed what would happen after the SOC. Would some (who wouldn't normally been furloughed if over all seniority was used) be recalled and send the other junior pilots (who weren't furloughed) to the street.
Yea...it gets REALLY complicated. Any time during displacements, there are actually a limited number of awards as well...it's just the way numbers work sometimes. After SOC, when the "you break it, you buy it" policy goes away, those awards would go to whoever can hold them, including furloughees if they are furloughed out of seniority. It's going to make it very complicated, to say the least. Nu |
Hopefully all the potential complications will be enough to keep it from happening at all. We can always hope.

Had FAA mtc inspector on the jumpseat this past summer who was working on the merger. He was very impressed with the organization and preparations of DAL. Can't remember the exact month he was on the jumpseat, but I'm sure this SOC ball started rolling from day 1. From the speed at which everything has happened to date, I would bet sooner rather than later.

Do pre-SOC furloughs from both sides have flowdown rights to Compass, or just from the NW side?
