Do you think that lawsuit is going to really affect the substainability of the airline? Hopefully lessons were learned. Thx

No, I don't think it will have a large impact at all. My guess is it gets settled out of court. Even if it doesn't it could be a few years, with all the legal manuevering, before it ever goes to trial.

WldPlt....how long have you been with the company and what do you think about their relocation to ATL in 2001, and their new management team?

The relocation to PeachTree city benefited Hollis Harris greatly. My dear old departed daddy told me if you can't say something nice about someone then don't say anything at all. Therefore I have nothing to say about our mgt. I've been with the company long enough to see 4 CEO's.

WLDPLT...one last question: you see the company established enough to be in business for the next 5 years with all that's going on? I guess at least they are not in bankruptcy like some others huh...

I can't make any promises about the next 5 years. That's forever in the airline business but I will say that as long as the military needs lift World will be right there providing it and that's where we make our money.

So I guess I'm saying that if you think our military will be busy fighting the war on terror for years to come then you can count on World being around that long.

World/NA acquisition
Hey, everyone, I have questions for any World pilots on here.
Why did World buy NA? Didn't World already have pax carrying authority? World flies both cargo and pax. So I don't really see why that happened. Was it for NA's 180 ETOPS certificate? I'm guessing that World already had vast worldwide route authority on the ops specs, so that is yet another reason why I can't make sense of this acquisition. I don't think NA had that much business that either World wanted, or felt scared about enough to buy a competitor out. Can anyone enlighten me here please?

thanks guys.

World was going to put 767's on it's own certificate but our mx wasn't up to the task of running an ETOPS program so the company acquired NAA for their 767's and the 180 min ETOPS.

Are they going to integrate NAA with World? And, does NAA have a CBA with IBT?

wldplt...thanks for the info. this seems very interesting, as i thought it would be cheaper to start your own etops operation and get some 767's on your own rather than axquire another entire company and all their associated costs/debts etc.... i understand that it may have been the quicker and easier way to go about things, but can you say how things have panned out?
Is world and NA being kept as two different companies, have there been any integration of seniority lists, operations? Are there 2 different pay scales or did the NA pilots get rolled in on the world pay scales? Thanks for any input that you can give!
