CAL questions
First the B-plan. How long to be vested? Do you get to select the investments or does the company? If you get to choose are you satisfied with the options?
Two scheduling. Preferential Bidding? If so do reserves bid hard lines or do they get to bid PBS style? Could you give a rough estimate of the days off/month one could expect as a 3 year 737/757/767/777 FO(EWR)?
Three LORs. Anyone want to write me one? Anyone at CAL who was at any of the following feel free to send me a PM. Westwind Aviation Academy 98-99, Snohomish Flying Service 2000, IFTA 2000-2001, Airpac 2001-2002, Skywest 2003-present. Or if you happen to be in SLC or ORD next month and want me to buy you lunch/dinner that could be arranged

We are implementing preferential bidding as we speak. It in a test/learning phase for May and June. It will probably be implemented for the July bid unless there are significant problems. I can't answer your question about reserve bidding with PBS because I'm not on reserve and I'm still trying to learn the system myself.
You would get 12 -13 days off as a 3 year FO in EWR with the possible exception of the 777 which you would not be able to hold anyway.

B-plan is sort of like a 401K. It is put into our account and we can invest it as we wish as long as it is part of the Schwab plan...
As far as days off, I have been here less than 1 year, IAH based 737 and I am getting a hard line which I can manipulate to 15-16 days off with the occasional weekend off....this could change once PBS becomes live....

I asked CalPilot this but maybe you can add some insight - what is your monthly first year pay averaging? I know what the website says the base pay is, but I was wondering what is possible. I'm trying to understand how much money I'll have to set aside for the first year. Thanks.

As of right now your starting pay is $29.97/hour as a 737 F/O with your rate going to $54.74 in your second year.
Per Diem is a whopping $1.85/domestic, $2.05/Int'l. If you are a reserve you will be paid 76 hours or hours flown. As a lineholder your guaranty is 72 hours although most lines are built around 80 hours and you can fly as many hours as you wish with no bank time.
