Unfortunately it’s not that easy in our line of work. Im handcuffed here with my career at this point. If I could go fly for AC (they openly hired/sponsored expats) I would absolutely consider it. It’s not an accident I had exactly 104 overnights in Canada when I flew for the regionals I can assure you.
In the meantime, if allowed (but isnt for the most part) I would happily reside north of the border pay their taxes and be a resident. I used to live and fly for an island nation in the Caribbean a long time ago. Ive kept coming back yearly since. When I purchase a home there in the next few years, I’ll be halfway there as I can stay 6 months of the year. You can enjoy and appreciate your career here in the states, a career that I have spent my entire life working towards and is my passion, yet also not want anything to do with the living and raising a family here. They aren’t mutually exclusive. Im thinking about a home purchase in the future as well, places like Croatia have come to mind. But of course, it’s just an idea at this point. That being said, I love this country for the opportunities it has given my immigrant family. I was born here and will vote my conscience—it’s sad that it seems like it’s being destroyed rather quickly. |

Sure, I understand. I’m a dual citizen in fact. And more citizens of that particular country live out of it than in it. I’m glad you have a plan—don’t forget that you are trainable and smart enough to be an airline pilot, so you are fully capable of doing another line of work.

That’s just an opinion, someone else may very well think it’s getting better. What is happening is the opinions of the majority are slowly changing. Just wait until the baby boomer generation mostly dies off and it’s all millennials and gen Z voting on everything… This is all just a philosophical view of it and I’m not trying to argue whether what’s happening is right or wrong just my perception of what’s happening. The population is getting younger and young people tend to be more liberal. |
I wrote that it seems it is being destroyed. So yes, it is my opinion. My opinion based on my insights, grouped together to form perceptions.
When it seems as though the world under the new liberal (and cough debatably majority) mindset is worse than it was before, when down is up and up is down, when we can pretend to be things we are not (and expect others to pretend with us), and I don’t recognize the country I was born in 46 years ago very well any more, then yes, my philosophical opinion renders it as destruction. And that’s my perception. |

Precisely the position I find myself in. I’m relating less and less to American society (as a whole).

It's society as a whole, man. Not just America.

Bologna. I’m referring to Americans in particular. I’ve traveled to three dozen countries thus far and the take away for me is that when the citizens of a country have it too good for too long (as we’ve been fortunate enough to have here in America), they start to invent problems out of sheer boredom. That’s exactly what we’re seeing the U.S. of A.

America Isn't the only "progressive" country. Otherwise, I agree with your assessment as to the root cause of these pushes. No doubt. |
