Pinnacle guy here.... yeah the ATL ramp sucks, but hey, there's not much we on the line can do about it except apologize for the passengers and do our best to get in on time. As much as it sucks to be an outsourced guy, I want your passengers to be happy too. There's no need to play the blame game. Just use objective honesty in the announcements, such as "welcome to Atlanta we're sorry for the inconvenience but the gate we're assigned is occupied. We're doing our best to get you to the terminal. Thanks for your patience and understanding."
Hopefully though if the passengers fill out "complaint forms" the powers-that-be will come up with a solution such as not having so darn many airplanes at the same push times, or something.....

I fear we're actually rewarding the behavior. Joe obviously gets a rise from this stuff. Every time we "bite", we inflate his ego.
The statement you're all quoting speaks for itself, and gives you all the insight into the author and his "thought" process that you would ever need.

I remember the days at ASA when the ramp was the worst it has ever been. What did ASA do? Made the Manager of said ramp the president of the company. Having experience both, and only been at Delta 1.5 years, I am still impressed when we pull up and the rampers are there. Huge difference than ASA. Not only are they there 95% of the time, but they look and act a whole lot better.
I also hate the fact that you make that announcement to the passenger. It serves no purpose and the passengers know you are blaming the airline that you are flying for. Which in turn lets them know you are bitter and unprofessional. I liked flying with you and agreed with alot of your rants, but not this one..
