They are not lucky; they are smart with some common sense. Unlike the NWA pilots that talked to everyone including the media about the incident. If you ever land on a taxiway, please call your union before you talk to anyone. |

Not the centerline lights; the man is talking about centerline lights.
The green centerline lights are part of the low vis taxi routes (10-9F&G). I don't think they're on if it's VFR |

So after the highly televised lynch on NWA flight crews that messed around with their laptops allegedly, I am left wondering what has the FAA and the NTSB ever did with the Delta crew that came from Rio and mistook the green lights for white lights?
No. Let's lynch them here. |

The green lights in ATL during VFR night conditions are typically at least as bright as the runway or brighter.

Yes, they're on if it's VFR. Unless you're in SLC, though. They're the only airport I know of in the country that don't use the centerline lights at night. I asked them "why" one time and they told me they're "saving electricity."

Taxiway "M" in ATL I don't believe has green taxiway centerline lights. Those lights lead off from Runway 09R/27L, cross 09L/27R and Taxiway "M" , about 2000ft from the end of "M", and then proceed down Taxiway "L" .
Oh..it does have them. They can get pretty obnoxious. Not as bad as MEM but pretty dang bad. |

You're probably right, I was just glancing real quick at my 10-9D, but that only shows the lights that are on for low vis less than RVR 600. They might have had them on at that time in the morning. Don't know for sure. I'm sure the investigation will have all the details.
I beleive that they are those LED's that will blind anyone. |
You folks can argue about the color of taxiway lights, and when they are illuminated, until you are blue (or green) in the face.
The important point to remember here is...... 1. Make no statements 2. Contact ALPA 3. Make no statements |
