Northwest NonRev AMS
Hi,
I'm looking to non-rev between Amsterdam and Johannesburg sometime soon and was wondering if anyone has any experience with how easy this might be to do. I have Delta / Northwest pass benefits and have used them extensively internationally from the US but not in any kind of foreign hub.
How are the Customer Service Agents?
Are there any problems getting on the list and through security?
Is there anything else that I need to know?
Help would be much appreciated... Thanks in advance

Stringer, I guess you are planning on using KLM. If you connect you need to get a boarding pass to get you to the gate and verify for the flt. to Jo burg.. At the end of the E- concourse there are plenty of kiosks or agent to get you to check in.. procede to the KLM dep. gate and show them your SBY boarding pass and wait to be called. If you plan to spend some time in AMS you would need to check in with KLM agent in the dept. terminal, go thru customs and to the gate.. I think we fly non stop from ATL so that could be another option..have fun..

Appreciate the response, thanks for the info. Possibly going to head to AMS from England on Easyjet, and then continue down from there. ATL is the other option, just depends on a few other people's schedule.
Presumably there isn't much of a language barrier with English over there? I speak a fair amount of French but they didn't teach me how to list for a non-rev flight in high school

I think FlyingDutchman missed a key part of your story: you can't just list for a flight on KLM like you would for a Delta or NWA flight.
You need to get a Zed fare for travel on KLM - which you can only get as the employee, spouse, parents or dependents (depending on airline - each is different on who can use a zed fare).
What is your relationship to the person who works for Delta/NWA? If you're furloughed, I can't see how you could get a zed fare, as it says for "Active Employees".
