I think JAL and the Japanese government, in concert with their Japanese media contacts, are just trying to find ways to squeeze more juice out of a lemon.
JAL is the fat chick who enjoys having two guys fight over her.

Obviously, nothing has been decided yet.
Until the ink is dry on the paper, I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, I don't know why any pilot here would waste gray matter worrying about it anyways.
Obviously, each airline will seek other options should JAL leave their alliance. Speculating on what that may be is pure folly. Just look at this deal - supposedly, it was and has been in the bag for DAL for weeks now. Now we get a report that JAL may stick with OneWorld.
Once again, until the ink is dry on some agreement, who cares. Even after that, only time will tell whether or not the deal was actually a wise decision, or yet another boondoggle by airline executives that aren't even fit to run a kid's corner lemonade stand.
We now return you to rampant and baseless speculation by pilots who think they are privy to "inside information"...............

long term aviation analysts predict only the new style airlines will survive in asia, that jal will always be like an alitalia...of the big three one world will always be the smallest. a jal+dal tie up would have meant the end of the nrt hub for dal....alpa was in big error to endorse the dal + jal tie up. alpa analysts and lawyers have been in error in many big decisions in the last years...

btw, if you're a DAL pilot, you might want to read your contract (Section 1 especially). If DAL were to codeshare in NRT, then Delta is required to operate a certain number of slots. No codeshare...

Japan Air Will Decide Between American, Delta Offers This Month

Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Japan Airlines Corp. reiterated that it will decide between tie-up offers this month after Asahi said the carrier would reject advances from Delta Air Lines Inc. and stick with American Airlines.
“Nothing is decided yet,” Satoru Tanaka, a spokesman for the Tokyo-based carrier, said today by phone. “We will make the decision by mid-February.”
The two U.S. carriers have both offered to invest in Asia’s biggest airline by sales ahead of a so-called ‘open skies’ agreement that will liberalize flights across the Pacific. JAL, a member of the Oneworld alliance alongside American, is restructuring its operations after filing for Japan’s fourth- largest bankruptcy last month.
American spokesman Charley Wilson declined to confirm or deny the Asahi report in an e-mailed reply to Bloomberg questions. British Airways Plc, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. and Qantas Airways Ltd. are also members of Oneworld.
JAL was unchanged at 1 yen at 11 a.m. in Tokyo trading. The carrier is due to be delisted later this month.
Delta is a member of SkyTeam alongside carriers including Air France KLM Group, Korean Air Lines Co. and China Southern Airlines Co.

... and look who quoted it again
When the title of the thread is "JAL back with AA and OneWorld" and an articles points out that is not the case, then I think it qualifies as "news."

We need to start a TMZ for Airline pilots... we can call it... APC!
The trick is getting it on TV. Hmm.. where did those cheerleader pics people kept posting? It could be a combination of APC and the Man Show.. the APC Show!
We can have 80ktsClamp come on at the end of the show and give his "funny, late nite comedy remarks"!
