You sure about? I'll put you in touch with my dad (IAM) that walked in that strike. He walked in the day time and got a job at night for money.

Default Me too!!!

The best thing we can do for our fellow employees is to get a good contract. We can't negotiate for them, it's already hard enough negotiating for ourselves. But, our scope protections help them save jobs and if we get a raise, they can(and will) say, "Me too!"

Your negotiators need to make sure that the Transition Agreement is airtight and all language is concise and unambiguous.

US Airways is operating under a TA that is neither and that has caused a lot of issues apart from the SLI, like furloughs out of seniority and whipsawing one pilot group against the other.

More or less, yes. I don't think any dues paying union member expects a union that represents another employee group to represent them in negotiations, and I'm certainly not suggesting that. The point of all of this was to call out an attitude of "good for me, ******** you". And I think that the AFA, IAM, ISW..ad nauseum have been saying "us" for a looooooonnng time now.

Oh, I am sure. I was a member of the MEC during the UAL pilot strike in 1985. The IAM did NOT honor our picket line.

Certainly there were individual members that supported us, but on a formal basis, the IAM continued to work.

Let me rephrase it. Do you think the IAM, AFA or whoever thinks about the pilots when they are negotiating/voting on a contract? Do you think they discuss whether they should ask for less so there is some left for the other work groups? I think you know the answer....

Whether in a flat out hourly rate overall and/or a B-scale?

Some of you have bought into the "limited size of the pie" argument that management has tamped up our bottom side for 15 years. Let's not forget a few things. One of those "other employee groups" that we suddenly seem to be concerned about are the management people themselves. Let's reflect on how concerned they are for you and I. Secondly, Make a bigger pie (raise ticket prices).

The two issues are not really involving money, but could interfere with managements plans or ability to change their business plans. That's why they don't want to come to an agreement

Scope effects almost every group at an airline. Limit the amount of outsourcing and guess what, more jobs within.

Separate ballots for the joint CBA is a great way to avoid whipsawing and animosity between pilot groups while gaining leverage against the company.

The CAL UAL joint CBA will be an industry changing contract. There is zero room for error.
