Ditto on the X days. I've been here almost 3 years, all on reserve and the only time I've "flown" on an X day was when we had to cancel due to a mechanical and we were the last flight back. Fortunately, I was able to jumpseat home on another airline that night, but I still got my day restored with payback.

Last day of Reserve

Didn't we have some recent LOA's or something stating that you may be released at 1200 on your last day of Reserve?

Yes, you're automatically released from shortcall or longcall at noon if you're going into Golden Days or these

Be advised that your scheduler may not know this. I gave my scheduler a courtesy call at noon the day before a mil leave and took him by surprise.

Sorry for being a mooch, but where is this written? Couldn't find it in the PWA or on Crew Scheduling. I'm guessing there are few others I've missed as well.

It was an LOA. Maybe LOA 22.....can't recall the number.

"A long call pilot may be released from on-call duty at 1200 base time on his last on-call day prior to a non-fly day (e.g., X-day, regular line day-off) if he contacts Crew Scheduling and requests to be released."

Per PWA 23.S.7

From what I have noticed it's not always automatic like someone else said. Check your rest info in icrew to make sure you are released and if not, call.:D

I believe in the past it was only automatic if you were going into a "hard non fly day," and your were on Long call.

8. A long call pilot will be released from on-call duty at 1200 base time on his last on-call
day prior to a “hard” non-fly day (e.g., golden day, MLOA, ALPA drop).

This is from LOA 22:

Short Call
Amend Section 23 S. 9. to add f. and g. (new):
9. A short call pilot:
a. will remain
.
.
f. will be released from on-call duty not later than 1200 base time on his last oncall
day prior to a ―hard‖ non-fly day (e.g., golden day, MLOA, ALPA drop).

Seems to me it is not automatic if you are going into regular XX days or a regular day off if you have a regular line the next month. I may be wrong? Best bet is call the scheduling guys at DALPA, or post a question on the forum.

What Flamer said. It's in one of the more recent LOA's. Something to the effect of:

"Along call pilot MAY be released at noon the day prior to a day off. A long call pilot WILL be released at noon the day prior to a hard day off (ie golden day, MLOA, vacation, etc".

Flamer 10-20-2010 07:59 AM

Shortcall is released at noon also. Basically you are done with all reserve obligations at noon prior to a hard no fly day. You might have to remind scheduling of this fact on a regular basis.
