Retirement at age 70
#432
Anyone here retire before the mandatory limit? When I got into this business the target was age 60 and I never adjusted my aim point. I'm rapidly approaching 60 and thinking of leaving early. Any stories, yea or nay?

I've been retired for 30 years, as Tom G. said, you will wonder how you had time to fly. Every once in a while I get a little nostalgic, I put my hand in the Cuisinart and remember how it was. One rule though, if you hear an airplane and look up, you are required to shepherd it out of sight.

I retired 1 month shy of 63 in 2012. Delta offered a early out package that was too hard to refuse. We live on 16 acres with 6 horses,4 dogs and a cat. I took up a new career in the medical field. I now work at home for no pay as a “Farm Assist”

His Airworthiness sets a good example. Pilots deserve at least a year of retirement for each year worked, as compensatory damages for all the job-related annoyances.

I adjusted my aim point to 65, but I don't see adjusting past that. I'm currently working to fund my 401k.

When they closed all the fun bases, (MIA,MSY,DFW,IAH,BOS,ORD) it made the job too much like work, unless, of course your thing is living in a $2500. basement studio in NYC.
