Where did you see that? The story i saw was that AA was recalling 250 pilots and a bunch of FA`s beginning in November.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but this is Good News, but not great news. They are recalling 250, but this "will reduce the number of furloughed pilots at American to about 1,730"

Still a long way from hiring.

American Airlines recalling 800 employees - Yahoo! News

Yea, but of those 1730 who is going to be going back to AA? If I remember right most of these guys were furloughs from early 2002. It will be fun to see how far down the list they get to get the 250 slots filled.

the first 102 are true recalls that were furloughed in feb...the next 150 of the 250 are all AE flowthroughs..they won't get very far down the list at all

Let's see how many bypass/how many previous bypasses come back..I know apa was only expecting 10% to say yes...but that number is probably more for the guys furloughed years ago

If only half of them take the recall... that's still 800 or so pilots they have to get back through the door and through training again. THEN there has to be a demand for MORE pilots.

I'm thinking AA is a long way from hiring off the street....
