This issue has created untold difficulties for the industry. Can anyone quantify the financial costs that the airlines will face by people just choosing not to fly over the Thanksgiving weekend?

By Ron Paul:
“It establishes that airport security screeners are not immune from any US law regarding physical contact with another person, making images of another person, or causing physical harm through the use of radiation-emitting machinery on another person. It means they are subject to the same laws as the rest of us.

Your local authorities have the right to give the TSA the boot from your airport. I know Sanford International in Orlando is doing this and I believe San Francisco uses private contractors as well. Contact your local officials to see what can be done. Regrettably, I spoke to mine and they aren't inclined to do anything. The 9/11 excuse keeps coming up. Just imagine if President Eisenhower was using Pearl Harbor as an excuse for everything in 1953.

I might be anal about grooming standards, but this excerpt is from the TSA uniform manual. I think it speaks volumes about the total lack of professionalism of this agency. My favorite is the last sentence. I guess the male, morbidly obese officer that I encountered in ATL the other day wearing huge, fake diamond earrings in each ear portayed the very essence of a professional appearance.
Pitiful.
Pitiful. (2) Jewelry:
(a) Officers may wear only stud style earrings that do not exceed ¼ inch in diameter and are made of plain gold or silver tone metal, pearl, or other gemstone, and earrings may only be worn in the ear lobe. Female Officers may not wear more than two (2) earrings per ear lobe and male Officers may wear only one (1) stud style earring per ear lobe. Earrings must not detract from the professional appearance of an Officer.

Exactly, Six Flags employees aren't allowed to wear jewelry, have facial hair or have any visible tattoos. I think the TSA should be held to at least the standards of an amusement park, minimum wage, high school employee.
