We don't have to resort to "racial" de novo racial profiling to fix this problem. We need BEHAVIORAL profiling. Think about what you're saying--a black guy from Alabama is supposed to have more scrutiny than a whit-ish guy from Pakistan? A Muslim from Indonesia is supposed to get more scrutiny than a Catholic from Northern Ireland flying into London?

BEHAVIORAL profiling is where it's at--travel history, facial pattern recognition software that can detect heightened states of physiology and stress that several software co's have developed...

If the TSA spent less time looking for bombs and more time looking at the faces and iteniraries of the pax, AND LEFT PILOTS ALONE, they would be a thousand times better at what they do....

What ever happened with ALPA's Crew Pass initiative?

Looks like it's finally scooting on through as a result of this idiocy.

Can't really prove this here, but in my opinion the TSA prefers everybody goes through these new full-body imaging devices.
I do not think that these new "Groin Check" procedures coming out around the same time as the full-body scan controversy was a coincidence.
I think the TSA created these new "Groin Check" procedures as a way to dissuade people from denying a full body scan.

Risk your health, or be sexually assaulted.
Kind of creepy if you ask me.

The procedure sucks. But don't forget why they have it. It's not only to be intrusive. The dude who tried to blow up that Delta/NWA A330 had his device in his underwear. Thankfully it failed to work and he only burned his junk.

I'm no fan of this, but remember it's there for a reason, not just overreaching gov't. Even though I do believe the TSA is on the verge of that too.

Yet this individual, though a high-level security threat, was still allowed to board an airliner bound to the U.S. with the intent of questioning him on his arrival.

The cookie cutter approach to airport security borders on the line of uselessness. A semi-skilled interrogator can learn more about the intentions or security risks associated with a passenger in less then a few minutes, yet our fear of discrimination prevents any of this. Basically we have randomized the whole process while sending people through high-tech futuristic body scanners. The random approach only hopes that by some miracle the security risk happens to get flagged, by chance nothing more.

Book a ticket on El-Al and see how they do it, we could learn a thing or two from them.

I was reading about this yesterday in the USA Today and I don't remember her name off hand but it was the head DHS that made the statement "we ensure that everyone getting a patdown has a screener of the same gender". Now lets ask ourselves why that would be? But in this day and time where (and I am not gay bashing here at all so please don't send hate mail) but what if the tsa person happens to be gay? Would that be so much different then say a man "screening" a woman or a woman screening a guy (well okay most guys would pay to have a woman touch their junk, and now they get it for free while going to work whooooooooo hoooooooooo ha ha)?

Like some others have said it seems easier if you want to get stuff thru security either become a ramper or or how about a TSA agent? They walk thru all the time setting off the metal detector. All it would take is getting a few of them in the major airports to smuggle stuff in one morning and hand it off to someone else or leave it where someone can get it.

Would it be frowned upon if I went back outside security and got in line again?
