Because in Delta's world, everyone lives in ATL until proven otherwise. ATL base does not need lodging or perdiem for initial training. With the high starting pay though, you more than make up for the crashpad and per diem.

Yes, but there are ways around it. Swaps, pickup directly from another pilot, green slips (double pay, but rare).

Sadly, FARs cap us more than the contract.

First year pay is $54/ hr , do I just take that times 70 to get my monthly pay check? Or is there trip/ duty rig that would make this more or less? Thanks for the help

Couldn't tell if you're retiring or just departing. If you're not retiring, I highly recommend looking at the Guard/Reserves. A little extra $ and furlough insurance.

And like others have already said, count on 70hrs/month. Might pull more, but don't set your budget up for it.

Be careful with planning on more then 70 hours. I'm on the DC9 in Memphis and haven't had a green slip since July. I broke guarantee exactly 3 months this year. I'll break next month to, since Ii got a line. Different bases and different fleets will give you different results, but you can't go wrong with budgeting 70 hours.

I thought the goal was to get a job at a major then try not to work. Apparently I'm doing it wrong.

Snowball's chance in hell. All of the new hires from this year all got 320's to MSP or DTW, 88's to MSP, NYC, or ATL and 9's to MSP, DTW, MEM. My class got to participate in the AE last sept and still no one moved very much. Just bases mostly

Keep your guard gig. But definitely apply to Delta. I spent 11 years active duty AF and am so happy I got out. The commercial side just makes more sense
