Delta pay?
I am a military guy considering applying to Delta, I am really confused with the whole pay thing. I tried to search this but didn't find much, could someone just tell me in real number what a guy can plan on taking home in a year or month as a first year FO at Delta? Ie. First year pay is $54/ hr , do I just take that times 70 to get my monthly pay check? Or is there trip/ duty rig that would make this more or less? Thanks for the help

As for take-home, you've got taxes as well as $100-$400 (depending on which health plan and whether you are individual or family) monthly in medical premiums and a few other miscellaneous expenses too.

Basically, yes, because you'll likely be on reserve your first year, depending on what plane you're going to.
Also, while you're in training you're on Entry-Level Pay, which is lower. It was $2750 a month, but has gone up the same percentage as the other pay rates since 12/31/2008.
So, while you might be busier in the summer and fly more than 70, you'll make less in training. So, it sorta washes out.

I would say you can plan on a net income of about $2400-$2800 per month during your first year. Could be more or less depending on whether select company provided healthcare or not.

If you plan on, and budget for reserve, you will avoid disappointment. It will always depend on hiring, but in the last 2-3 years most have been on reserve exclusively......best of luck in your decision, and your luck either way.

I just looked at my W2 from 2008, when I was a new hire. I was at Delta that entire year, so it's a very good indication of what you'll be making that first year.
My W2 says I made $39,800 plus about $5,000 in per diem. I was on the 7ER, and held a line about half the year. That doesn't include the retirement money from Delta. The rest of the year was in training or on reserve, No green slips (although they were plentiful that year). I think the pay rate for First Officers in 2008 was $49.61. So, you might make a bit more, since the pay rate has gone up.

I'm assuming lodging is included during training. Is it not? I figure that you get a perdiem to help cover meals??
