The AirTran Pilots' Windfall and SLI

I think there should be a new thread called "Great SLI Scenarios from the Great Unwashed"
In it, I'd like to propose this. You're the SLI arbitrator for the following 5 mergers:
Delta-Alaska
American-Jetblue
Delta-Northwest
American-TWA
Southwest-AirTran
You can only set 1 precedent and it applies to all 5.

Southwest could expand overseas as early as 2012 02/03 01:37 PM
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV:$11.6314,$0.0614,0.53%) could expand its near-international destinations as early as 2012 upon the delivery of its first Boeing Co. (BA:$70.70,00$-0.3000,-0.42%) 737-800s, the company's chief financial officer said Thursday. The Dallas-based, low-cost carrier is also in the process of acquiring AirTran Holdings (AAI:$7.36,00$-0.0100,-0.14%) , which has flights to the Caribbean and provides needed experience in overseas flying, CFO Laura Wright said, during an analyst conference. "We're certainly going to learn a lot about those international markets with AirTran (AAI:$7.36,00$-0.0100,-0.14%) ," adding that the 737-800 jet is a better aircraft for expanding international markets, "should we want to."

To All Delta pilots:
From Southwest pilots:
Subject: SLI between Southwest and AirTran pilots

Nice tramp stamp there buddy.
And to make this pertinent, here is the AirTran presentation to the Raymond James conference: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/External...R5cGU9MQ==&t=1

The guys who keep pushing relative seniority make me throw more support to those who keep pulling out their stapler. Then I realize it's just a buch of Delta FOs who'll never make as much as the SWA pilots (or AAI pilots once they transfer to the SWA contract). Guess it's just a case of Hammer envy (refer to page 64, post #634).
Really? I'm guessing you're some SWA FNG. Thanks to "how much you make," we've all been propelled backwards in pay and benefits.
Oh, and Bspilot, some of us didn't have to pay for our types, our company did.

My neighbor is a senior AirTran type. He's not a union insider but he knows them all. He passed along the following rumor:
He says the AirTran people are mostly just sitting back and watching.
The Southwest pilots are starting to develop factions based on seniority. They are pretty much negotiating with themselves right now and the fear of what an arbitrator will do is driving them to make concessions to themselves.
Meanwhile, the AirTran merger team is methodically preparing for the hearings.
They're confident. They believe their case is strong.

It is strong-for relative seniority. To say otherwise would just be fooling one's self.
