Default Speeding Tickets . . .

It may be out there somewhere but I can't find it. . .

Can anyone tell me the policy on sppeding tickets? Do they hurt you? I unfortunatley have a total of 5 in 16 years. However, 2 of them in the last 3 years (1 of which was 3 months ago).

Is this going to hurt me? I put them all an the apps, I'm not trying to hide anything but I don't have a good feeling about them.

I am scheduled for a 737 type and if these tickets are going to kill my chances I wonder if it's worth the 8G's.

Thanks

I was worried about the same thing, I have 3 speeding tickets in 16 years with the most recent one about 3 years ago. I have an interview with SWA in a couple weeks so I guess they weren't too concerned. That being said, I'm sure they aren't psyched about them or else they wouldn't ask. I do know of a guy who was interviewed and hired with 5 tickets on his record. Just some frame of reference for you, I don't know what the official stance is. Good luck!

skiutah:

I have had my share of tickets and had two in the same month this year, but they are under the 10 mile an hour rule here where I live which equals 0 points and not placed on my DMV record. I did list them however on my Southwest app and interviewed last month. (Don't hide anything. Be open and honest even if they won't show up) In all total, I had about 5 listed and it was never brought up.

They hired me and I'm currently swimming in LUV's pool. The interview is a great experince and they know we are human. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Have fun with the type. HPA?

Companies ask because it show's that you "don't follow the rules" (Laws or FAA regulations). They want responsible pilots that follow FAA regs and company SOP (standard operating procedures).

Tickets may not prevent you from getting a job, but they do not help.

Where the hell do you live that you get pulled over when you are doing less than 10mph over the limit?!

I had speeding tickets and put them on the record and never had to talk about them. Always got hired.

One day, heading to the interview in a rental car (going the speed limit), I was almost run over and cut off by a maniac going at least 30 mph over the posted 55 mph limit; weaving in and out of traffic. I got a good look at the guy. Turned out, he was one of the capts on the interview panel that day.

Conneticut will give you one for 4 above the limit. I got one for 59 in a 55. I was coasting downhill on a bridge on Interstate 95. I saw the cop, looked at my speedometer and didn't hit the brakes because it was no big deal. I was wrong.

Not too long ago, a couple of SWA managment types were talking trash about their hot cars. As I recall one had a Porshe and the other a souped up Mustang.
Their bravado led to an impromtu drag race on the asphalt beside the sim/training center building.
One of them lost control and did a Burbank through the chain link airport security fence and slid out into the airport grounds almost onto a taxiway. The Feds weren't too happy nor were these two guy's bosses.
One is still a mucky-muck. The other "decided" it was time to go back on the line.
