CHICAGO, May 5 (Reuters) - Boeing Co on Thursday said it took orders for two 777s from American Airlines, one 737, and one 767 -- both from unidentified customers -- in the latest week. Boeing, which competes for orders with EADS unit Airbus, also said Korean Air was the buyer of two 777s that had previously been attributed to an unidentified customer. The company also identified American Airlines as the customer for one widebody 777 previously listed as unidentified. Boeing said it lost one order for a narrowbody 737 in the latest week but did not identify the customer. The changes bring the net total orders for Boeing Commercial Airplanes to 109 for the year. Shares of Boeing were up 29 cents at $79.13 on the New York Stock Exchange. Are these 2 777s in addition to the other 2 that were announced it April?

Well they have not hired in almost 10 years and have 1800 guys still on furlough. Not to burst your bubble but I don't see AA in your future after the first of the year!

 

I would have to agree. If recalls continue to number only 25 a month, it's going to be a while before they get through the remainder of the furlough list - not to mention the Eagle guys with AA seniority numbers that will flow-through as well. The good news is that age 65 kicks in late next year, so it is possible that we will then finally begin to see some real movement at AA.

 

But how many of those 1800 are either not flying, or are captains out places like Jetblue or Airtran? Most of the 1800 have been furloughed going on 10 years.

 

that is the $64,000 question that a lot of us would love to know..

 

I agree that many have no intention of ever coming back, but it does seems that the acceptance rate for the two June classes and the first July class seems to be higher than many had expected. Granted, it's a small sample to this point, but it does seem support the notion that a good number of furloughed guys and gals have NOT moved on to something better after all these years.
My personal guess is that the initial acceptance rate will be somewhere between 30 and 40 percent. If you throw in prior deferrals and the Eagle flow-throughs with seniority numbers at AA, it could very well be two years or more before we see anyone hired off the street. Can you imagine the career that some of those young "new-hires" will enjoy? How about for a 25 year old in the first "new-hire" class at AA in eleven or twelve years? It's all about timing!

 

you reference the July class as though you have details to who accepted and where they are on the list, would you mind sharing. What was the last seniority # offered recall and the last that accepted in July?
