Default DAL early retirement 2009/2011

Can anyone recall the number of pilots that took DALs early retirement package circa 2009? Were there enough takers to create major "AE-like" movement or were the changes largely transparent?

Heard a similar offering may be in the works.

Thanks,
Cubdrick

It coincided with the parking of the 747 classics... only 250 or so took it. I suppose it took some pain out of that.

The overwhelming number were over age 60 second officers, and then there was a mix of pilots in other seats....They also went out under NWA retiree health insurance......Unless somebody now has tricare or a large inheritance the porcine will sprout wings and fly before any body takes a significantly early out.

There were about 215 pilots that accepted the PIRP, but when everything was said and done about 190 took it.

Don't think the proposed numbers will generate much interest, other than those that have tri-care, and that will be iffy. JMHO

Red Flag: Renewed interest in a PERP means Delta has more pilots than it wants.

Delta is smart to try to furlough off the top (the more expensive employees) before furloughing off the bottom (the least expensive employees). Still, this is not a positive sign for staffing overall, despite the fact that upward movement might result.

Republic Airways

Republic Airlines is offering reduced hiring minimums for ATP grads. ATP grads get reduced minimums (1200 TT & 500 ME) with ATP’s Regional Jet Programs. (Updated 11/4/10)

Not sure but it seem like I move up about 10 #'s per month with each monthly updated seniority list

Yep, that's about right. So 120/year and a 12,000 man list means..... only 100 years from bottom to top at that rate! Cool.

Yes that is not a good sign at all. Especially for someone near the bottom. Where are these rumors coming from? Can anyone confirm that this is being considered? The last I heard was they still weren't sure if they will be hiring later this year for 2012 flying.

Isn't there a tax incentive for those on the DALs side with regards to health insurance? If you are getting PCGB money then ones health insurance can be tax deductible up to like $800 a month. I am not sure many of the DALs Capts know this, or I'm just a young guy and don't realize that they all know it down to the last $
