Default Quick 757 question

I just got back from Hawaii with the family and flew both directions on a 757. Both seemed a bit older but appeared to have updated overheads. Both aircraft had no gasper vents at all. The cabin seemed to stay fairly comfortable but I was surprised to see that change. I admittedly ride in the back of 75's very infrequently so this has probably been this way for some time. My question is are all 757's being retrofitted to remove eyeball vents and if so why? Extra bin space?

Thanks

I think Delta bought about 4 757's from ATA a few years ago that had no gaspers. We generally keep the cabin temp a couple of degrees cooler than the regular ones with gaspers.

I can't confirm the 757s, but I do recall that we got some 737 Classics from a European airline back inthe late 90s that didn't have the eyeball vents (I want to say the company was called Germania). Like anything else in the cabin, it's all optional and you can set it up however you'd like. This particular airline operated in relatively cool climates and decided they didn't want to pay for all the extra ducting. I seem to remember that once we started operating them in the deep south, they were tough to keep cool in the summer.

That makes sense, they both were ex-ATA planes. Thanks for the quick response.

BTW, the FAs on the LAX-LIH leg were the nicest I have seen in years! They sent us packing with a large 'care package.' I don't remember the last time one of our FAs did that. Kudos to Delta for hiring those ladies.

ATA pawned those aircraft off to DAL in the '90s. Also, Pratt-powered. There are quite a few airplanes out there, new, that don't have gasper vents.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. See, they're not all grouchy cat ranchers.

None of CAL's 767s (200s or 400s) or 777s have gaspers. Also, I've been on some America West 737-300s that don't have them. I guess it's just one of those options.

The gasper vents are actually an option and not all the companies get them, none of the 76's or the 77's at ANA have them

The 777's at KAL do not have em either. We also have a few 767ER's here at DAL with no vents.
