Now what mgmt does with the money is another story.
Exactly. The airlines are not public utilities, nor is flying a God given right. Vote with your wallet. The nerve of airlines to charge for their service

Exactly. Can't afford it...then keep walking. See how far that argument gets you down at the Bentley dealership.

Amazing the flying public would bristle at airlines pocketing the cash instead of Uncle Sam...who use the money so wisely. Oh yeah...these are the same people who will book away for 10 bucks difference round trip and end up with a 30 minute connection thru ATL...and then ***** about that.

It never ceases to amaze me how ppl love to say how much they paid for their purse or clothes. However seem appalled at paying several hundred dollars to fly across the country....Can really rub a pilot the wrong way

Virgin? They raised their fares, and only give the 'discount' where they compete directly against Alaska - ie, Alaska's price is lower, so Virgin kept their price lower in order to compete. So, in short, Virgin is gouging the customer as much as they can.
So Alaska Airlines is undercutting the market?

Does it matter if Alaska is or isn't? Every company can price their product as sees fit. However, to complain about our industry making money is wrong when they adhere to business 101. I just had a friend complain about paying 210.00 to fly roundtrip from DFW to CRP. I told him to get in his truck and drive and see how much he saves in costs and time. Not seeing the need and beauty in commercial air travel by the public is some of the problem. Most just don't get it because it is a higher priced disposable product hampered by taxes, legislation and the TSA (actually it's the terrorist fault).

That was a little jab at some Alaska Airlines 'friends' who complain that Virgin America is undercutting Alaska Airlines and regularly preach the evils of one airline undercutting another.

I just found it interesting to see who passes on savings to their customers, and who doesn't, but markets themselves as a low cost carrier or a 'fee free' carrier. When the rubber meets the road they pocket the extra revenue.

I guess you guys wouldn't bat an eye if a 'tax holiday' prior to school starting results in no savings for your kids because the stores all raised their prices for that one day either.
