Ok, I am not joking this time. How do we nominate Gloopy for MEC Chairman? Or would he help us more by taking LM's job? Gloopy, we will probably need your employee number to put on some nomination form, somewhere.

Totally agree!

This is a huge problem for US airlines. We are basically being screwed by our own country.

Hence bag fees. $950 million last year alone.

Unfortunately that still doesn't help us with the advantage foreign carriers have when it comes to buying heavy metal.

What helps that is ALPA PAC going to DC and demanding that our government show the same Nationalism that other countries do to their airlines. Take France and the UAE for example. Lets compete the way they do.

It's hard to put any $$$ at DC with how they've failed us for years now. With the economy where it is we shouldn't have to beg and bargain to get jobs in the USA. Our own country has been shooting itself in the foot for years.

I do not disagree with that, but the reality is the world works a certain way, and if we are going to fight for this industry and for a career, and not a job, certain things need to be done.

And it is the way it is because that is how our federal government wants it.

It would almost be funny if we weren't sending them all our money to buy oil, then borrowing money from them we don't have to provide the vast majority of their defense. We need to sober up from the glory days of the Marshall Plan and tend to our own business.

And getting a little territorial with your airlines is a good way to start.

It could be viewed that way, but in this case its just merely leveling the playing field. There is nothing "free market" about giving foreign airlines financial benefits over your own airlines just to appease lobbyists for a domestic manufacturer. That is crony capitalism/corporatism at its finest and very anti free market.
